Using The Five Dysfunctions of a Team model by international best-selling author Patrick Lencioni, participants learn how to maximize their behaviors to become a more cohesive and productive team. This is done by increased awareness of team members’ personality styles and how they benefit the team’s overall success.
The Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team by Wiley
How are things going on your team? Is there trust among team members? Is your team using conflict as a tool to actually create better results?
We offer a program based on Pat Lencioni’s best- selling book “The Five Dysfunctions of a Team”.
In 2013 Wiley began developing a team development program that combines the power of DiSC® with Patrick Lencioni’s team development model. The result – The Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team.
As your team goes through the process of learning how to Trust One Another, Engage in Conflict Around Ideas, Commit to Decisions, Hold One Another Accountable, and Focus on Achieving Collective Results, DiSC information provides practical, personalized, information for each team member at each step in the process.
Emotional Intelligence Assessment and Training
DEC Strategic Mentoring has developed an EQ training program that guarantees your employees will know more about themselves and others after completing the program. Our EQ assessments measure emotional intelligence (EI) and how is can impact people and the workplace. Emotional intelligence is defined as “a set of emotional and social skills that influence the way we perceive and express ourselves, develop and maintain social relationships, cope with challenges, and use emotional information in an effective and meaningful way.”
Why is EQ important?
While emotional intelligence isn’t the sole predictor of human performance and development potential, it is proven to be a key indicator in these areas. Emotional intelligence is also not a static factor — to the contrary, one’s emotional intelligence can change over time and can be developed in targeted areas.
EQ measures the interaction between a person and the environment he/she operates in. Assessing and evaluating an individual’s emotional intelligence can help establish the need for targeted development programs and measures. This, in turn, can lead to dramatic increases in the person’s performance, interaction with others, and leadership potential. This is a highly effective employee development tool for organizations who want to have more cohesive teams and help their employees to be more productive.
Here are the highlights of the DEC EQ program. This program lasts 4-5 hours depending on the group.
- Understand emotional intelligence and why it is important – history to present day
- Learn difference and connection between IQ, EQ and personality
- Determine how to use EQ as a leader or a Mentor/Mentee

- Exercises to supplement learning throughout the day
Authentic Feedback Workshop – both giving and receiving it
Giving Authentic feedback is information-specific, issue-focused, and based on observations. It comes in two varieties: Praise and criticism are both personal judgments about a performance effort or outcome, with praise being a favorable judgment and criticism, an unfavorable judgment. When you make it authentic, you give the receiver options on how to do better at any criticism you have of their work. Looking to the future is the best way to allow your employees to learn.
Here are the highlights of the DEC Authentic Feedback workshop. This is included with the Mentoring Program or can be purchased separately as a workshop.
- Learn the three types of feedback conversations – pros/cons
- Learn how to gracefully receive critical feedback
- Feedback triggers
- Learn the language techniques of giving Critical Feedback
- How to effectively make the feedback authentic
- Timing, relevance and intentions of Feedback
- Exercises to supplement learning throughout the day
